    NCP announces candidates for governorships of nine S. Sudan states

    January 19, 2010 (KHARTOUM) – The party of General Omar Al-Bashir today announced candidates to stand for the governorships of nine states of South Sudan. At the headquarters of the National Congress Party in Khartoum, lists were announced for the party’s candidates for the Southern governorships as well as legislative seats.

    The NCP will contest in South Sudan’s constituencies for the National Assembly and the South Sudan Legislative Assembly. It will later announce its candidate for the presidency of South Sudan. The party will have to compete with the dominant party of the semi-autonomous Southern region, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM).
